Blown Glass
Blown glass is a specific form of working with molten (liquid) glass to create pieces of work. Presently many 'hot glass' artists are creating great sculptures as well as fine craft using blown glass.

A glass blower handles 2000 degree F molten glass on the end of a blow pipe, manipulating the shape using metal tools, and expanding the glass by blowing into the other end of the pipe. The glass shape can be "puntied" broken from the pipe using another metal stick attached to the bottem of the glass. This is to be able to open the lip which is the top of the glass.
Sculpting Hot Glass
A great trend has occured in glas in the last two centuries, it is called studio glass. This trend took glass out of the factories and into artists back yards, where experiments and new ways of seeing this material has been developing. There has been great glass art produced thruogh out the world befor the 1960's, yet not like this. This is a movement.
