Cast Glass

Dave Shanfeld
Lost Wax Casting
The casting process requires the use of glass filled plaster molds fused in electric kilns. Weeks are spent on detailing and investing the wax, firing and annealing and finally, divesting and hand polishing.
All of the castings are crystal, which gives each piece a unique texture, often resembling semi-
precious stones. Charlie refers to his castings as his "passion pieces", many of which are representative of his love for the sport of fly
fishing. His work is included in numerous private and public collections, including the Corning Museum of Glass and the Renwick Museum at the Smithsonian
