The Hot Shop

Glass blowers handle 2000 degree F molten (liquid) glass on the end of a blow pipe, manipulating the shape using metal tools and expanding the glass by blowing into the other end of the pipe.

In the first photo below, a piece is reheated in the "glory hole" for further shaping by Kay Hamelton.

In this photo from right to left Cheryle Ann Lorance, Michael Bergt, and Dave Shanfeld are drawing on glass.

In addition to blowing, the artists can sell their work out of the gallery. While working in the hot shop customers may watch the work in process.
